Why this site is for adults only, how the gate on first load works, and how it differs from the age checks that chat services run themselves.

Adult self-certification

The gate on first load asks you to confirm that you are at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. It is a self-certification screen: no ID upload, no face scan and no third-party check. Once you accept, a flag is saved in your browser's localStorage. Clearing site data, switching browsers or opening a private window resets it. Entering the site means accepting the terms of service.

Two age controls in play

1. This site's 18+ gate. Covers reading the coverage and viewing the images on animesex.io. Self-certification, stored in your browser.
2. The chat service's own checks. Apply when you open a service through a button. Services decide their own method, and some markets require more than a checkbox.

Why stronger checks exist in some countries

In the UK, the first age assurance duties under the Online Safety Act started on 17 January 2025 for services that publish their own pornographic content, including certain generative AI tools. The Ofcom letter of 16 January 2025 lists methods such as credit card checks, mobile network operator checks and certain age estimation methods, and says self-declaration of age does not meet the standard. If you are in the UK or another country with similar rules, expect a chat service to ask for one of these checks.

Why this site is 18+

The site writes about explicit roleplay and shows sexual images of fictional adult anime characters. That material is for adults only, so the gate is set at 18 or the local age of majority. Who runs the site is on the about us page, and how its content is checked is on the methodology page.

Adults-only characters

Every character on the site is a fictional adult, in the text and in the images. The site does not publish sexual content involving minors or characters drawn or described to look underage, and it does not use school settings or school uniforms in sexual contexts. The same rule appears on the Anime Sex page as the one limit that never moves, and the 2257 statement covers why record-keeping rules do not apply.

Parents and educators

This site is not suitable for anyone under 18. A device or network content filter with adult categories blocked is more reliable than any self-certification gate, and most routers and operating systems include one.

Data implications of the gate

The gate stores one flag in your browser. No server-side record of your answer is kept, and no personal data is collected when you confirm. Full detail is on the privacy policy page.
