18 U.S.C. § 2257 statement

A short compliance statement on why federal record-keeping obligations do not apply to the drawn and AI-generated images of fictional characters published on this site.

What § 2257 requires

Section 2257 of Title 18 of the United States Code, together with 28 C.F.R. Part 75, places record-keeping and labelling duties on producers of visual depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct. Producers covered by the statute must keep records showing that every performer was at least 18 at the time of production and must display a notice naming the custodian of records.

Why it does not apply here

animesex.io does not produce or publish depictions of real people. Images on the site are drawn or AI-generated illustrations of fictional anime characters, and no actual human performer appears in any of them. Text on the site is editorial coverage of AI anime sex chat on the Anime Sex page. None of this is a visual depiction of actual sexually explicit conduct by a real person, so the record-keeping duties of 18 U.S.C. § 2257 do not apply.

Fictional adult characters only

Every character shown or described on the site is a fictional adult aged 18 or over. The site does not publish sexual content involving minors or characters drawn or described to look underage, and it does not use real people's faces or names. Who runs the site is on the about us page, and how images and claims are checked is on the methodology page.

Third-party services linked from this site

Buttons on the site lead to independent chat services. Any record-keeping duty for material hosted on those services sits with those services under U.S. federal law and the laws of the countries where they operate. Nothing on this site takes on § 2257 responsibility for content published elsewhere.

Voluntary adult policy

Independently of § 2257, access to the site is limited to adults by an 18+ gate on first load. How it works is on the age verification page, and use of the site is covered by the terms of service.
